The Dorjun
The Martha J with Aletia Alvarez, Bruce Garman and Anne Schneider on board |
Northwest Maritime Center & Wooden Boat Foundation Historic Vessel Sustainability Endowment Fund Bruce and Virginia Garman established the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation Historic Vessel Sustainability Endowment Fund to guarantee long-term care and maintenance of the historic Dorjun and Martha J. Vessels like the Dorjun and Martha J are a significant part of our maritime heritage. Donated by the Garmans to the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation in 1997, the Dorjun was part of early exploration of Cape Horn in the 1930s and served as a U.S. Coast Guard rescue vessel. These historic vessels require constant maintenance to ensure that their legacy continues for future generations. So the Garmans stepped forward with $10,000 to kick off an endowment to take care of the Dorjun and Martha J.
When fully funded at $200,000, this endowed fund will generate interest from principle annually forever to maintain these historic vessels. You can help achieve this goal by adding your gift. |
